This position will be responsible for property accounting, reporting and analysis and provides guidance to Progress Energy Florida business units for capitalization concepts and practices. This position will have responsibility for analyzing and approving capital project set up and closes with their Financial Services business partner to ensure that the corporate capitalization policy is followed consistently. This includes: review of all project estimates such as in-service dates, FERC accounts and retirement; and handling of asset transfers and unitization within the PowerPlant property system. This position is responsible for monitoring capital project activity to ensure proper financial statement reporting of CWIP, EPIS, AFUDC and Depreciation. This position will support potential PEF Rate Case witness testimony and submitted property/depreciation/dismantlement schedules as necessary and assists with providing answers to discovery. This position will also have responsibility for the accounting related to asset retirement obligations, nuclear decommissioning and dismantlement accounting. This position will have monthly accounting and reporting responsibilities (including journal entries and account reconciliations) and will ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements. This position will perform analysis of complex property and regulatory accounting issues, therefore, strong analytical skills, ability to exercise judgment and advanced spreadsheet skills are essential. Additional responsibilities include responding to audit requests from regulatory, external and internal auditors; interact with various individuals and management throughout the organization. This position also requires excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Education: Bachelor's degree with major in accounting/finance or equivalent; CPA or MBA preferred.Experience: strong analytical; technical and leadership skills demonstrated; excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Demonstrated proficiency of complex accounting concepts. Ability to lead project initiatives by developing, executing and monitoring action plans.
