Responsibilities: The PurchasingManager is responsible for all purchases of IFS materials and services, manages and optimizes supplier performance, and provides continuous improvement to the purchasing function for Projects and Engineering Group headquartered in Tulsa Oklahoma. This position will create and maintain mutually beneficial long term partnerships with suppliers; evaluate competitive bids, obtain and compare prices, quality, quantity, and availability of materials and supplies; and discuss substitutions, delivery schedules, delivery discrepancies and other issues with vendors. The manager is also responsible for preparing and maintaining an efficient computerized MRP system, process purchase requisitions, assign part numbers, descriptions and maintain an accurate and up to date inventory control system. Also included in the responsibilities is working closely with project managers on scheduling materials and services based on engineering designs; and, communicating effectively with material sources and internal departments regarding schedules, cost/budget restraints, specific material requirements, and inventory control. It is necessary to be able to handle transactions with a sense of urgency, while finding the most effective material purchasing solution for the company. Education & Experience: B.S. degree or equivalent experience. 5+ years purchasing experience, preferably in the energy, utility or construction industries. Excellent communication, organization and negotiation skills. Experience with project based purchasing and project management methodologies. Job Title: Purchasing Manager Company: Metro St. Louis Sewer District Location: Saint Louis, MO Description: PURCHASING MANAGER The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) is a Missouri State special purpose political subdivision that is responsible for the St. Louis area's storm water and sewer collection and treatment. MSD ranks in the nation's top wastewater utilities, and is major contributor to the health and environment of the St. Louis area. This position reports to the Director of Finance and has significant responsibilities in management of the District's procurement along with the mailroom and headquarter facilities. In addition to strong purchasing skills, must have strong strategic planning and implementation skills, sound management competencies and a positive leadership style to manage within a team environment.
