Financial Analyst with Utility Accounting (Remote)

SOFT's client is looking for a Financial Analyst  with Utility Accounting experience for a long term contract assignment. This position can be hybrid (Massachusetts) or remote (EST).  You must have experience in Utility Financial Accounting to be considered for this role.

Key Accountabilities:
• Develop a deep understanding of regulatory allowances and obligations, and accounting policies
• Maintain financial reporting for Modernization Plan
• Develop portfolio and project level accounting, tracking, and reporting capabilities
• Maintain and update project and portfolio forecasts over multiple time horizons
• Verify project actuals and perform variance analysis to identify deviations from forecast
• Perform various financial operations including opening projects, work orders, and executing journal entries
• Implement controls to monitor and correct improper charging and Operating Company allocations
• Build strong stakeholder relationships across project teams, finance, and regulatory
• Lead cost recovery filings including creation of cost exhibits and support documentation

Qualifications
• 3+ years of project accounting and financial modeling experience
• Prior experience with utility finance, financial operations, or accounting required
• Familiarity with SAP
• Basic understanding of FERC accounting
• Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution required with a major in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field
• Strong project accounting and management experience
• Expert with Excel, pivot tables
• Ability to communicate (written, verbal, etc.) effectively
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and determine priorities in a team environment
• Demonstrated excellent time management, organizational skills, and prioritization skills on large scale projects involving multiple stakeholders
• Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS recommended
