Under limited supervision, performs major maintenance and repair activities on wind turbine generator sets including replacement or uptower repair of major components including but not limited to main shafts, gearboxes, and generators. Performs precision measurement, generator alignment, bearing replacement, and torque checks. Performs electrical and mechanical troubleshooting activities as required. Attend regular safety meetings and follow appropriate company safety and environmental policies. Operate, maintain, and manage tool inventory, and source tooling, spare parts, and consumables as needed. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 100 feet from the ground surface. This position requires no travel time. Two years of industrial mechanical experience at journey-level preferred. Previous experience removing and replacing wind turbine generators and gearboxes required: knowledge of crane related activities, including safe rigging practices, communications, and heavy lifting experience over 10 tons. Entry into this position requires successful completion of a post-job offer, pre-placement functional capacity evaluation. Typical work schedule is forty hours per week, and corrective maintenance work on weekends in a strictly as needed basis.
Must be willing to relocate to Massachusetts. Site is a 6 MW farm with three 2.0 MW Gamesa G90 turbines. Required Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Technical Associates/Bachelor's Degree in Power Generation/Renewables preferred or combination of education and power generation/industrial experience. Experience with Gamesa turbines preferred, however it's not required. Valid Driver's License is required.
