JOB PURPOSE: Journeyman Lineman duties include construction and maintenance of overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems. Direct responsibility for completing assigned work in a safe and efficient manner and for the general condition of trucks, special equipment and tools.
JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. Essential functions (EF) are those activities that, if not performed, would significantly and fundamentally alter the position. QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications listed below are representative of those required, but reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Post-Secondary Education: Must have completed a JATC or NJATC lineman apprenticeship or a three (3) or four (4) year accredited lineman apprenticeship. Must provide written documentation of related training experience with at least one thousand (1,000) documented hours of working a conductor energized at primary voltage. Acceptable documentation includes copies of apprenticeship certificates, college transcripts or journey-level lineman card equal to NJATC requirements. .
Experience: Must have experience in line construction and maintenance, and be proficient in using tools and operating heavy equipment of the trade on energized and de-energized systems. Must have a working knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity as pertains to utility systems.
