JOB PURPOSE: Journeyman Lineman duties include construction and maintenance of overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems. Direct responsibility for completing assigned work in a safe and efficient manner and for the general condition of trucks, special equipment and tools.
JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications listed below are representative of those required, but reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Post-Secondary Education: Must have completed a JATC or NJATC lineman apprenticeship or a three (3) or four (4) year accredited lineman apprenticeship. Must provide written documentation of related training experience with at least one thousand (1,000) documented hours of working a conductor energized at primary voltage. Acceptable documentation includes copies of apprenticeship certificates, college transcripts or journey-level lineman card equal to NJATC requirements. .
Experience: Must have experience in line construction and maintenance, and be proficient in using tools and operating heavy equipment of the trade on energized and de-energized systems. Must have a working knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity as pertains to utility systems.
