## Nature of Work
Installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of electrical equipment and components for utility infrastructure [water, wastewater, natural gas and energy (NGandE), and solid waste] including but not limited to wastewater treatment plants; odor control stations; collection lift stations; aeration basins; filtration; water production facilities and equipment; booster stations; pressure regulating valve (PRV) sites; generators; and co-generators.
Environmental Factors
Position functions primarily outdoors with exposure to all types of weather and traffic conditions; exposure to noise, mechanical, electrical, and burn hazards, hazardous fumes or gases, dust, moving equipment and vehicles.
Physical Factors
Moderately heavy physical effort is required to perform job functions including pushing, pulling, and moving items weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds; installing conduit and pulling wiring from underground; bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, and reaching above shoulder height. Sufficient clarity of speech, hearing, or other communication capabilities, vision or other powers of observation, manual dexterity, and personal mobility and physical reflexes sufficient to effectively and efficiently perform essential job functions.
Work Situation Factors
Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, occasional work beyond normal business hours, and responding to customer issues. May also involve responding to emergency situations, working extended hours including evenings and weekends, on-call and standby status. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Las Cruces policies.
FIRST CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO CURRENT CITY OF LAS CRUCES EMPLOYEES WHO MEET ALL THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS.

## Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in coordinating, communicating, and working with Operators to prepare Equipment to check amperage, voltage, thermal scan, and document data; cleans control cabinet filters and back-up generators.
Use various hand tool and equipment effectively to troubleshoot, repair, install, and commission electrical systems, including instrumentation and controls.
Follows lockout tagout safety to check for loose connections and torque of terminal connections; speaks with operators to get feedback on problems, look for any drawing or schematics, test equipment for issues or problems, and start making calls to find parts or equipment needed to repair the issue.
Assists in troubleshooting and performing the full range of repair and maintenance of large electrical motors (up to 700 HP) and the controls for the motors; determines electrical requirements for motor installations and wiring schematics for proper control operations.
Assists Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) personnel on all electric issues related to SCADA equipment.
