The California Public Utilities Commission is one the State's lead agencies working to reduce carbon emissions and encourage sustainability in California. The Building Decarbonization Section provides advisory support for matters relating to building decarbonization policies and programs, including certain requirements of SB 1221, and equity-focused building decarbonization policies and programs. The Program and Project Supervisor for the Section oversees staff who 1) provide advisory support to Commission decision-makers on building decarbonization policies 2) review and recommend action on utility compliance with Commission orders; 3) oversee building decarbonization program implementation and performance, 4) coordinate and collaborate with sections overseeing distributed energy resources, electric rates and grid planning; 5.) coordinate and collaborate with other state agencies on building decarbonization issues. Job duties include supervision (hiring, assigning work, evaluating employee work products, employee evaluations, and training), organization (planning and prioritization of work, ensuring sufficient resources are available to achieve the section's goals), policy development (ensuring staff are developing facts and analysis to justify policy recommendations), collaboration (working with other sections on cross-over issues and communication (preparing and/or editing reports, briefing Administrative Law Judges, Commissioners, and division management, and making presentations internally and before other agencies). The position requires background knowledge of building decarbonization policies and programs. Past history working in CPUC regulatory process is a plus as well as a background in the building decarbonization industry.
