Our team of skilled experts delivers a vast array of professional services to clients across five major markets: architecture, land development, water resources, transportation, and energy. We are seeking a CEI (Construction Engineering Inspection) Inspector for our [location], WV office. The CEI Inspector will support roadway and bridge construction projects by monitoring contractor activities, performing field inspections and material testing, and ensuring compliance with West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) plans, specifications, and safety/environmental standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Inspect daily construction activities (grading, paving, structures, drainage, traffic control) for compliance with WVDOH requirements.
  • Perform material sampling and field testing such as soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate.
  • Maintain detailed daily inspection reports, contractor activity logs, quantities, and pay documentation.
  • Monitor erosion and sediment control measures in accordance with WVDEP and WVDOH standards.
  • Participate in progress and safety meetings; coordinate effectively with engineers, contractors, and WVDOH personnel.
  • Observe and document compliance with project specifications, environmental permits, work zone safety, and quality control procedures.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or degrees in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction, or Surveying preferred.
  • Experience in roadway or bridge construction/inspection (12+ years preferred, depending on level).
  • Valid drivers license and the ability to obtain applicable WVDOH certifications (examples may include Aggregate, Asphalt, Concrete, Compaction, or other DOH training modulescustomizable if you want exact titles).
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, walk or stand for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and lift 4050 lbs.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills; familiarity with tablets, e-forms, and digital reporting is a plus.
