  1. Position Summary

The person in this position will assist with coordinating the placement and support of education students in student teaching sites. As the Field Services Coordinator, the person in this position is responsible for working with the Field Services Manager to provide high-quality student teaching placements. In addition, the person will provide support to Chaminade students, DOE and private school classroom teachers, and university supervisors before, during, and after field placements.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities

The Field Services Coordinator plays a key administrative role in supporting the operations and quality assurance of field-based experiences for Chaminade University students. This position is responsible for coordinating student teaching placements in collaboration with classroom teachers (CTs), University Supervisors (USs), and the Field Services Program Manager. Key responsibilities include identifying and determining placement sites, developing and delivering training for CTs and USs, facilitating student teaching courses, and managing the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data to support continuous improvement efforts. The Field Services Coordinator also assists with maintaining compliance with accreditation and licensure requirements. The Field Services Coordinator must be able to travel to the neighbor islands to identify student teaching sites and support students at those sites when needed. This person will also take on student advising responsibilities as needed. Additional duties may be assigned by the Dean or Field Services Manager to support the operational and strategic goals of the Field Services Office and education programs.

  1. Education and Experience

Minimum

  • Master’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Experience teaching at the K-12 level.

Preferred

  • Excellent record of teaching in Hawaii Public Schools at the K-12 level.
  • Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse students and faculty members

Experience and Skills

  • Must possess excellent leadership, time management, and communication skills.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in the use of computer software applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and learning management systems (i.e., Canvas) and the internet.
  • Knowledge and experience in using common office equipment such as computers and copiers.
  1. Physical Requirements

Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.

  1. Other Requirements
  • This is a full time and exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and have a varying schedule when required
