Wastewater Operator

This position is responsible for participating in the operations and maintenance of the wastewater system. Wastewater Operator Certification (Level I, II, or III) is preferred, but applications will also be accepted for non-certified workers who have the ability to become state- certified when eligible.

Duties include the collection of wastewater samples and conduct laboratory analysis. Service, maintain, and repair storm sewers. Inspects and maintains sewer lift stations, manholes, and catch basins. Responds to after-hour emergencies.

Minimum qualifications include basic skills typically associated with a high school education and sufficient experience to understand basic wastewater collection system such as an apprenticeship or experience working. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid SD driver's license and CDL. Possession of or ability to readily earn appropriate state-certified water license when eligible.

Qualifications

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid SD driver's license and CDL. Ability to readily obtain appropriate state-certified wastewater operators certification upon eligibility.
