Position Overview
Marathon Electric is a leading manufacturer of industrial alternators and power generation solutions. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for troubleshooting and repair of industrial alternators and associated electrical/mechanical systems at customer sites.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently in the field with frequent travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues with power generation components
- Ensure delivered-quality compliance to engineering specifications and customer requirements
- Provide on-site technical support and training to customers
- Collaborate with engineering and internal teams to resolve complex technical issues
- Prepare detailed service reports, documenting work performed and findings
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 25 years of field service experience, ideally with alternators, generators, or rotating equipment
- Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, controls, and power generation equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot using multimeters, diagnostic tools, and testing equipment
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in bearings, alignment, and rotating assemblies
- Read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel (up to 100%)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with industrial alternators or synchronous generators
- Knowledge of PLC systems and control panels
- OSHA or safety certifications
Work Environment
- Position is based from Wausau, WI.
- Frequent travel to customer sites, including industrial plants and outdoor environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
- Exposure to electrical equipment, rotating machinery, and varying climates

In this business area, our focus is the market of single phase motors for durable consumer goods, such as washing machines, air conditioners, water pumps, among others.

In this area, which includes liquid paints, powder paints, and electro-insulating varnishes, we have a very clear focus on industrial applications in Brazil and are expanding to Latin America and other regions.
