Facilities - Central Utilities Plant
Responsibilities
- Operates boilers and chillers in accordance with schedules and procedures established by the Utilities Superintendent. Checks all meters and gauges daily to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all boilers and chilled water equipment. Records and tabulates all meter readings and makes calculations as prescribed by the Utilities Superintendent. Maintains daily chiller and boiler logs and reports all potential problems via log entries. Completes daily water quality test to determine and correct improper chemical balance for boiler and chiller operations.
- Participates in the maintenance and repair of boilers, generators, air compressors, water pumps, fuel oil pumps, fans, and chillers. Assists in the preventative maintenance program designed to address mechanical problems before they become major concerns. Assists Maintenance Mechanics, Refrigeration Mechanics, Electricians, and Senior Plant Operators when requested by the proper authority.
- Completes all housekeeping assignments when requested in a timely manner. This includes but is not limited to: floor sweeping and mopping, painting, and insulation repairs.
- Completes other related duties as assigned in support of CUP. Assists and communicates with Senior Plant Operators regarding ordering consumable supplies and other work-related tasks. Attends staff meetings. Operates University-owned vehicles as required. May be required to work during normally unscheduled hours as an essential employee of the University.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years' experience, or a relevant Technical or vocational degree may substitute for experience.
- A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain upon hire.

Anticipated Salary Range
The anticipated starting salary is $33,900, commensurate with experience.

Considerations
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
The work schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; though provided, lunch breaks are not scheduled.
