This position supports the safe and efficient operation of the facility utility plant and related systems. As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will perform the following duties: Equipment Operation: Operate and monitor boiler systems during routine and emergency conditions System Maintenance: Perform inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs to maintain proper equipment function Water Testing: Conduct boiler water chemistry tests and document results and supply levels Housekeeping Duties: Maintain clean and orderly work areas and complete daily inventories Inmate Oversight: Supervise inmate workers, monitor movement, and uphold safety and security procedures Communication Tasks: Report daily concerns to supervisors and complete required paperwork and documentation Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40-hour work week Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM , with rotating days off. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
