Job Summary
Operates wastewater treatment equipment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater treatment plant to control flow (GPM) provided to the production plant. Maintains required environmental documentation and draws samples for lab analysis to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Monitors control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of process water provided to the plant and discharged to the city sewer line. .
  • Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter, gauge readings and lab tests results to determine load requirements and treatment adjustments.
  • Starts and stops pumps, motors, and equipment to control flow of process water through filtering, settling, aeration, sludge digestion and treatment systems.
  • Maintains log of operations; and records meters, gauge readings, test results and system changes.
  • Collects water samples. Conducts laboratory tests to monitor treatment efficiency and maintain mass flow balance (primarily TSS and PH).
  • Ensures no process water leaves containment areas and treatment systems are functioning properly; coordinates and performs repairs as needed.

This job has no supervisory duties.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D (accredited).
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years previous experience in utility or water treatment (in addition to education requirements).

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • None required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Knowledge in pipe fittings and various connections, specifically NPT, PVC Slip fittings.
  • Knowledge in the utilization of hand tools, and power tools.
