Maintenance and Installation Specialist Jobs in Kansas

A Maintenance and Installation Specialist in the utilities industry is responsible for the execution of installation, maintenance, and repair work of various utilities systems such as electrical, water, and gas. They ensure the safe and efficient functioning of these systems by inspecting equipment, diagnosing faults, and resolving operational issues. They might also perform system upgrades or replacements, adhere to safety regulations, and provide customer service when needed. Furthermore, they may be involved in planning and carrying out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment faults.

Important skills for this role include technical skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a good understanding of safety protocols. They need to have a strong understanding of the systems they work on and be able to diagnose and fix problems quickly. A valid driver's license is usually required, and so are certifications like the Certified Utility Locator or a Journeyman Electrician's License, depending on the nature of the job. Individuals usually start in entry-level roles such as utility worker or technician, repair worker, or equipment operator before advancing to the position of a Maintenance and Installation Specialist.
