Utility Account Manager Jobs

A Utility Account Manager handles essential duties for energy or utility companies, ensuring that clients receive excellent service. Their responsibilities include managing customer accounts, maintaining relationships with existing clients, identifying potential new clients, and resolving any customer issues. Additionally, they analyze customer data to improve services, increase customer satisfaction, and increase profitability for their company. They work closely with other departments within the company, such as sales, customer service, and billing, to ensure cohesive operations.

Being a Utility Account Manager requires strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. They should have a strong understanding of the utilities industry and be able to interpret utility tariffs and contracts. A bachelor's degree is often required, and some employers may prefer candidates with an MBA. They may also need to have certain certifications depending on the company and role, such as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). Prior to becoming a Utility Account Manager, a person may have roles such as a Customer Service Representative, Sales Representative, or Utility Analyst within the industry.
